Bike Check: Felt Rail 2-SP

DSC_0725

With Summer fast approaching we thought it about time to ditch the race bikes and check out the Felt Rail 2-SP: Felt’s 80’s BMX inspired cruiser. Gumwall tires, coaster brakes, moto grips, even the 80’s foam padding – the Rail looks like an over sized version of the BMX you got Rad on as a kid. Felt’s added a few details to make this more than just a retro-throwback, like adult sized 29” wheels and a Sturmey Archer 2-speed kick-back rear hub to give you a little gearing range. You know, in case the beach is at the end of a hill. Aside from the Sturmey Archer internal geared-hub, though, there’s not a ton to say about this bike that you can’t see from looking at it. And that’s kind of the point: the Rail is just a really, really fun bike to ride.

The blue chainring is a nice touch, to go with the polished Cro-Mo 3-piece cranks and pedals.

Definitely a cruiser seat, but more fun than the plastic one that came on every 80’s BMX

Blue gumwall Duro tyres are eye-catching but Felt’s nailed the details, right down to the blue spoke nipples
